ABOUT AVAIL
Our Story & Philosophy
AVAIL was created around a simple belief: many people pay more in taxes than necessary. Not because opportunities do not exists, but because those opportunities are often identified too late.
OUR STORY
Built for Better Planning.
Important financial decisions rarely happen in isolation. Selling a business, transitioning into retirement, exercising stock options, selling appreciated assets, managing required distributions, or navigating major life events can create lasting tax consequences when planning occurs after decisions are made.
AVAIL was built to provide proactive tax planning designed to help individuals, families, and business owners identify opportunities before they disappear.
Drawing upon nearly three decades of experience helping clients navigate complex financial decisions, AVAIL was created to focus on what many people need most: forward-looking tax strategy, thoughtful analysis, and coordinated planning.
Today, AVAIL combines human guidance, collaborative professional relationships, and technology-enabled analysis to help clients make more informed decisions with greater confidence.
Because when planning happens earlier, better outcomes become possible.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Planning Before Decisions Become Permanent.
At AVAIL, we believe tax planning should happen before deadlines pass, transactions close, and opportunities disappear. Our philosophy is built around five principles:
Proactive Over Reactive
Tax planning should not begin after the year ends. Earlier planning often creates more opportunities and greater flexibility.
Collaboration Creates Better Outcomes
Complex planning decisions frequently involve multiple professionals. We work collaboratively with tax preparers, attorneys, wealth managers, and other specialists to support coordinated outcomes.
Technology Supports Better Analysis
Technology allows us to evaluate more scenarios, analyze more variables, and spend more time focused on strategy and decision-making.
Every Situation Is Unique
No two clients face identical circumstances. Planning should reflect individual goals, tax situations, timelines, and priorities.
Education Creates Confidence
Clients make better decisions when they understand their options. We believe informed clients are empowered clients.
Our Objective
Help clients uncover and implement tax-saving opportunities that may positively impact not only their lives, but also the lives of those they care about.
About our founder

Jason Groth
With nearly three decades of experience in the financial services industry, Jason Groth has built his career on one core principle: empowering clients to make confident, well-informed financial decisions. As the founder of AVAIL Tax, he brings that same philosophy into the world of advanced tax planning—helping individuals and families navigate complex tax strategies with clarity, precision, and purpose.
Jason specializes in proactive tax planning—not tax preparation. His approach is designed for high-income earners, business owners, and investors who want to reduce tax liability, optimize outcomes, and make smarter decisions before taxes become a problem. He works closely with clients and their existing advisors (CPAs, attorneys, and financial professionals) to uncover opportunities that are often overlooked in traditional tax filing.
Throughout his career, Jason has been known for his ability to simplify complex financial concepts. He breaks down sophisticated strategies into clear, actionable insights—eliminating the intimidation many people feel around taxes and financial planning. His clients value not only the strategies he delivers, but the confidence and control they gain in the process.
Jason’s expertise is particularly valuable for individuals who:
- Pay $50,000+ annually in federal taxes
- Are planning to sell highly appreciated assets (businesses, real estate, primary homes, cryptocurrency, collectibles, or other investments) with $1,000,000+ in gains
- Want to proactively reduce taxes over time—not just react at filing season
Over the years, Jason has held numerous licenses and designations and has served as a financial fiduciary for corporations, banks, credit unions, and municipalities—guiding them through complex planning decisions with a high standard of care and responsibility.
His areas of specialization include:
- Strategic tax planning and liability reduction
- Tax-efficient retirement income distribution
- Wealth preservation and legacy planning
- Advanced charitable and philanthropic strategies
- Coordinated planning across multiple financial disciplines
Beyond his professional work, Jason is deeply committed to giving back. He has supported organizations such as the Polinsky Center for Children, the Irreverent Warrior Foundation, and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. He was also honored as Big Brother of the Year by Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego.
At AVAIL Tax, Jason’s mission is simple: help clients keep more of what they earn, make better financial decisions, and move forward with confidence.
